Campsite Review: The Pepper Pot Caravan Park

Usually when we go up as far as Cheltenham, we stay at a different campsite around the corner, however on this occasion we thought we would give them a go. We had just purchased our Kampa Bergen 600 Air Pro tent and wanted to try it out.

Location: Lower Wick, Dursley, Gloucestershire, GL11 6DD
Telephone: 01453890523
Website: www.quality-caravan-parks.co.uk/pepperpot.html
Capacity: Medium (24-28 pitches)

We booked this site as it was a little cheaper than the other campsite we use (both sites are very good!). I have read some bad reviews about this site, however I am unable to see and foundation to them as I cannot find a fault with this site.

About the site.

The site itself is not massive but it is the perfect size for a relaxing stay. It has a large central grassed area with an outer ring of grass and hardstanding pitches that are very well maintained, not too long or short so its a nice feeling under the feet. It is mainly tourers that use this site but they welcome tents as well with/without EHU.

There is a "ring" road around the middle section and toilet/shower block off to the leftso it is kind of a one way through courtesy. There are a mix of tents and caravans here so you are not segregated from each other.

The reception as you enter is on the left and is very quaint. It is not always manned but the lady leaves her number on the door so she is easily contactable.

Facilities

The facilities on site are very well kept and clean at all times. There are separate male and female toilets and showers. Although many others have complained about them, I never once queued for a shower or the loo and they are always spotless. There are two locked shower cubicles in each men's and women's and one disabled.

There is no cost to use the showers and they are quite powerful so I had an amazing shower.

There are also many other great reasons to visit this site:

  • Chemical disposal
  • Recycling available
  • BBQs are allowed but please use logic and keep them off the grass.
  • Dogs are welcome all year round.
  • Hard standings if you have a tourer/campervan, static etc

What around the site?

The site is located around 2 minutes off of the A40 not far from GCHQ. So there is a number of retail outlets such as Asda, B&Ms, KFC etc. So you can get your food and drink in very easily when you arrive so you dont have to worry about taking up space in the car when playing car Tetris laughing There are many attractions in the Cheltenham area such as Cheltenham Racecourse and the town centre. Being in the Cotswolds and the M5 corridor you could really look at things to do up and down the M5 and wont be disappointed. If you are like pretty much every other camper then you can get to both Winfield's in Feckenham and Attwoolls in Gloucester as well as Go Outdoors, so you can get your camping shiny shiny fix surprised.

Permitted Arrival/Departure Time

Camping & touring

  • Depart by: 12pm

Cancellation Policy

Regents Stansby operates a very fair cancellation policy:

  • No refunds if cancellation is within one week of arrival date.
  • No refunds for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
  • If you need to cancel or amend your booking, please give them as much notice as possible so they can re-book if needed.
  • Please note if you book through Pitchup, they take a 15% deposit that the campsite DOES NOT RECEIVE. Please make your bookings direct so the site gets 100% of the booking and can keep the site as nice as it is.

They do take payments by debit/credit card on site as well as cash and paypal.

Tariff

The tariff changes year on year as expected, Currently we paid £20.00 per night for a large pitch with 16 amp EHU for 2 adults, one are and a dog. This is quite reasonable. Please note that if you book through Pitchup, they take 15% of the booking cost and the site does not get it. Please book through the site directly to the site gets the whole booking and can be kept as nice as it is.

All in all this site a very nice medium size peaceful campsite. We have been several times and will continue to return for the forseeable future.

RATING: 9/10
